Yoga for Body, Mind and Spirit
at Bloomsburg University's Magee Center

This course doubles as a basic introduction to hatha yoga and as a 4-week immersion in a systematic progression of postures, breathwork and philosophy. I offer this course twice a year and the course material varies for each offering.

Here is the description from the Magee Center catalogue: Whether you're looking for stress relief, increased flexibility and strength, better breathing, improved posture or just to be able to "stay focused on the present," yoga provides an enjoyable way to address these concerns. Yoga has a long tradition of helping those who practice become aware of the body/mind/spirit connection - and it is this awareness that underlies health and wholeness on all its levels. In this workshop you will learn basic yoga postures, breathing and relaxation techniques. This course is suitable for adults of average health. Please call 389-4420 to register.


Autumn Yoga Series at Benton N4Cs
Mondays, October 24 - November 28, 6:30 - 7:30 pm

When the sap withdraws from the leaves and the autumn winds pick up, our external environment takes on the qualities of dry, rough and brittle. In this hatha yoga workshop we'll work with postures, breath and relaxation techniques that emphasize ways to keep ourselves in step with the season's changes. Think "moisture, flexibility, increased adaptability" and you'll have an idea of the work we'll be doing together. Please call 925-0163 to register.

Creaky Bones? A Yoga and Oil Massage Antidote

Do you hear the sounds of creaking, cracking and the pull of Velcro when you move and stretch?  Do they seem to amplify when the days get shorter and the weather gets cooler?  Welcome to Yoga for Creaky Bones.  This mini-course will feature gentle yoga movements designed to lubricate joints and stimulate glands, AND will include two Ayurvedic massage routines.  One routine will be for a self-administered, full-body oil massage, and the other for an Indian Head Massage that you provide for another.  You’ll learn the routines “dry” and will receive a small supply of Himalayan Institute Triphala oil to try the full-body routine at home.  Oil massage does much more than just revivify the skin.  Its deeply detoxifying and rejuvenating  effects help rid the body of stored up cellular waste.
